The name C.A.L（Creative Associates Ltd.,）signifies this is a “company of creators.” C.A.L was founded about 60 years ago by a group of renown screenwriters – including collaborators of Akira Kurosawa – with the goal of producing high-quality TV shows under their creative leadership. This ambition remains unchanged, and we have produced a variety of shows along with our core expertise with period-piece dramas.
Lately, seismic changes in the media landscape have made traditional network TV production more challenging. However, this change has given C.A.L a chance to shine in a way no other production company can.
C.A.L owns the rights to multiple titles including the popular period pieces “Mito Komon” and Ooka Echizen.” For many years now, our core business has been rights management/merchandise and production itself.
Going forward, we would like to untether ourselves from domestic TV production and take our stories worldwide with a new injection of creative ideas. And as always, we would like to make a positive contribution to society through storytelling excellence.
